Generally I eschew New Year's resolutions because I find them pedantic. If I feel a need to improve in a certain area, then I do it without waiting for something like New Years to give me a push. However, this year I've been given some news about my health which forced me to make some lifestyle changes. This just happens to coincide with the new year, and so I've taken this opportunity to light a fire under my own butt, so to speak. So I'm eating better, exercising every day, and adding a minimum 1/2 of hour drawing practice to each day's routine to work on target areas where I know I need some improvement. I've also begun posting some of these practice sheets in my Sketches folder because I find that if I have something to show for it, then I'm much more likely to follow through. Also, it will give me a metric to visualize my progress and see where I'm improving and still in need of more work. Most of these will be rapid figure drawings, but there will be other subjects as well.
The better diet and increase in physical activity seem to have gotten my brain functioning better because the creative juices seem to be flowing more, so expect to see more original works as well s a return to my Lovecraft Bestiary project.

Getting back to the computer
As you can see lately, my posts have been mostly a few photos/photo manips and some other craft type things, but I am getting back onto the computer a bit more now that winter is here and I'm indoors more. I will be getting back to making more Lovecraft creatures in soon, but I will also be making more sculpture/jewelry/craft type work as well. I tend to get bored if I do the same sort of thing too long, take a break doing something totally different for a while, then get back into the same old things again for a while... that's just how my creativity works. So, if you're waiting for a particular type of thing from me, either be patient an
No art for a while
I realize that it's been over a month now with no updates from me. The reason for this is that I have injured my back. Sitting in a position which allows me to use my hand to create is extremely painful right now, and I can not create when pain is the only thing I can think about, so I am taking a hiatus from artwork until my back heals sufficiently. This could be a few weeks to a few months, but is NOT a permanent condition. The doctor believes I have a ruptured disk in my lower spine, which should heal completely in due time with proper therapy and rest and medication. An X-ray has proven useless in diagnosing this injury, but I have s
Lovecraft Bestiary Blog
I've started a blog to compile my Lovecraft bestiary works as I complete them. http://lovecraftbestiary.blogspot.com/
The first entry, The Gug, is already up. Help spread the word!
New project: Lovecraft bestiary
I have decided to create a Lovecraft bestiary. Hopefully this will be something I can publish when I am done, but until then it will just be an ongoing project when I find time for it. I am open to suggestions for creatures to include in it.
I have decided to start by illustrating a creature called a "gug." The gug is described as a giant monster 20 feet or so in height. They dwell in great underground cities. They have double forearms each ending in large hairy paws with sharp claws, a toothy vertical mouth, and pink eyes which protrude from the side of their head on bony ridges. This description makes portrayals of them difficult; such
